LA Times – Part 2

What a weekend we had. Saturday was our best day yet and Sunday was our second best day. Tons of new people came to Yoga-urt after reading about us in the LA Times. I had no idea the impact that it would have, but the turnout was great.

We weren’t prepared for so many people, so we were running low on many Flavors on Saturday night. Guess who got to come in on Sunday morning before my shift to make more? That’s right, me. No one else could do it so I made 9 gallons worth on Sunday morning. I’ve had to make our product a few times in the past, but I never felt confident doing it. Now I do. It’s a great feeling knowing that I can do it whenever we are in a pinch.

This was also the first weekend that we were open until 10pm. That worked really well for us. We were really busy from 9-10pm, and I think this will be great for Spring/Summer.

On another note, I had a meeting today that could lead to something great for Yoga-urt. It’s too early to share, but I feel like I met the right person at the right time. The potential is there and it will be interesting to see what happens. All I know is that I’m open to all of the possibilities, and have faith that my dreams for Yoga-urt are going to manifest.

LA Times & More

This has been an exciting week. The LA Times posted a digital article mid-week that we were a part of for best vegan froyo/ice cream in Los Angeles. We were at the top of the list and got the picture too. Pretty cool!

I knew it was coming, but I had no idea what it would be or when it would go out. Then today, that article was in the Saturday edition of the LA Times food section. Boom!

I was only at the store for a brief time today, but people are coming and calling because of the article. This might be our best day yet!

VegNews Magazine also gave us a shoutout on Facebook which was such a nice surprise.

It’s a little overwhelming but very exciting! I work at the store most of the day tomorrow and I’m excited to experience it first hand. I’m worried that we’ll run out of Flavors, but we’ll do what we need to do.

We’ve had very little publicity in our journey. There have been some cool things along the way (LA Yoga, VegNews, support from PETA and Mercy For Animals, awesome social media support, and a few others), but there are still so many people who don’t know that we exist. LA Times has a wide reach and I’m so grateful they included us. I’m also grateful that I have a wonderful woman named Camille who is doing outreach for me for free, because she believes in us. How awesome is that! She was a big part of the LATimes  piece.

Another new thing for this week is that we extended our weekend hours to 10pm. Last night was the first night, and so far so good. We had a lot of people between 9-10pm. I think this is going to be a great move for us!

I have so many mixed feelings right now. Fear. Excitement. Nervous. Grateful. As always, I will keep giving this the best that I’ve got because Yoga-urt deserves it!

Photo Shoots & More Fun Moments

It’s been a good week or so at Yoga-urt! I think last weekend was our best yet, and March was definitely our best month yet.

People are responding really well to our new no sugar added Sweet Greens flavor. I love it too! So refreshing, like a smoothie, and really healthy too!

This week, we had 3 photo shoots in 1 day!!! Yep, that’s right! One had been planned for a few weeks. We have these track lights pointing to the wall above the soft serve machines, but there is nothing there. It’s been bothering me for a while. These are product beauty shots that I plan on framing and putting on the wall. Hoping photos are good and can’t wait to fill in the empty space!

The other 2 shoots came up last minute – 1 for something for LA Times (very exciting) and 1 for an SBDC Success Story. This is the company that I worked with over 4 years on my business plan and that ultimately gave me the loan. So exciting about all of these!

When it rains, it pours!

Speaking of rain, more is coming over the next 4-5 days, so I expect that we’ll slow down 😦 What can I do. I have no control over the weather so it is what it is. The biggest bummer is our 2nd Kombucha workshop is on Saturday on our patio. We already took the tarp down, so now I have to figure out how to get it back up. Not fun!

On Sunday, we had a visit from Tim (veganfatkid) and Yvonne, both very popular in the vegan social media world and just awesome people. I had a great time chatting with them and I’m so appreciative of the support that we get.

I also had a very random but definitely orchestrated by the universe moment this week. Nothing to speak of yet, but it was an exciting moment that I hope turns into something.

Overall, I’m doing okay, but I know that I have to figure out a way to take a little vacation soon. I need to take a few days to detach from everything, and just let all work go, and I can’t do that at home. I have to physically go somewhere or else I will keep working. I really hope I can make that happen soon!

With Tim and Yvonne!
