Going With The Flow

Going with the flow. That is what I’m trying to do right now. I’m realizing that there is so much that is not in my control. I’ve had so many curveballs in the last few weeks that I’m just trying to stay balanced and focused.

Going with the flow is something that I’ve worked hard on during the last few years because it does not come naturally to me. Right now, it is my lifeline.

I’m currently on day 12 of 20 days of work in a row between Yoga-urt and my day job. It’s exhausting and I’m just taking one day at a time. It’s really not healthy to do this much, but I know it won’t always be like this. I am definitely paying my dues this year.

This past weekend, one of our customers took a video of Yoga-urt. He really loved it and wanted to share. Here is the video – https://www.youtube.com/user/EugenioFitSystems. It’s so cool to see something like this. So grateful for this support!!! It reminds me why I’m doing all of this in the first place!

Roller Coaster Ride Continues

This is definitely a crazy ride. I’ve said this before, but this journey is up, down, and all around. One minute I hear something great and the next I hear something crappy. From one extreme to the other. I think most business owners/entrepreneurs know exactly what I’m talking about.

So thankful that my yoga/spiritual practice has prepped me for all of this. Just wish I had more time for yoga right now, but I squeeze it in whenever I can.

As for the good news, I found out something this week that I can’t announce for another few weeks, but it’s pretty cool. More to come soon.

However, I can announce that by the end of this week, we will be serving our Fall flavor. I think it’s something that most everyone will like and our team is pretty excited about it.

This should be a fun week with Halloween on Saturday and World Vegan Day on Sunday. I heard it’s very busy in Kenneth Village on Halloween. That would be great!!!

Finally, today I made 2 gallons of chocolate by myself from scratch. I never did that before, but I knew we were going to run out today and there was no one else available to do it. It was a bit intimidating, but I figured it out and successfully did it! I’m very proud of myself. It never ceases to amaze me what one can do when they push through the fear.

A Good Day

Today was a pretty good day. It was the Kenneth Village Fall Festival and it brings out a lot of people. Mostly kids and families. We had a great day, possibly our best yet.

Last year, I went to the festival to check it out as I had been pre-approved for the location that we have, but was still pursuing the loan and not sure if I would be able to move forward. A lot happens in a year 🙂

One of the Glendale council members came by and checked us out which was nice. Overall, people seemed to really like our soft serve and smoothies. We even had some people drive out from Huntington Beach and some from Northridge. We so appreciate them!!!

Another exciting thing is that we reached 1,000 likes on Facebook today. So exciting!!!

Quite a Week

Wow, this has been quite a week and it’s only Tuesday.

First off, someone called in sick on Sunday so I worked the store by myself until 5pm, and then stayed until close to 9 to help the pm shift, who was nice enough to let me leave and do closing duties by himself. It was a long 10 hour day as we were consistently busy, and a hard way to start my week, but also so much fun to be there and meet all of the customers.

I met someone who said that he read my whole entire blog (hi Jaime:) after finding it through yelp. That’s amazing!  I met someone who may have ideas or tips on expansion. Two yoga friends came by. Our customers are awesome!!! Plus, my sister and her  family came which always makes me happy.

On another note, there is a big effort right now to improve Kenneth Village where we are located. A nice man has taken it upon himself to raise some money for improvements. He is also trying to get feedback from the neighborhood and get the merchants involved. It’s been really interesting to read the thoughts of the community. Some ideas are very exciting. Farmer’s market. Neighborhood night out. Holiday lights. Community activities.

Hopefully, some of these ideas will move forward!

Best Froyo

I had an hour or so to kill today while waiting for my phone to get fixed. There were two frozen yogurt stores close by, so I decided to check them out. It’s been a while since I tasted others’ frozen yogurt.  I hear all of the time from people that once they taste ours, the rest is ruined.

Now I know why. I know that I’m totally biased, but after tasting theirs, ours is so much better. Our Flavors are so much richer and cleaner. I was surprised with how noticeable the difference was.

People say that we are the best vegan froyo out there, but in my humble opinion, we can compete with the best froyo, vegan or not. Yes, I’m biased, but doesn’t mean it’s not true, right?

We are currently working on our fall flavor. We ran it through the machine this week and it’s pretty good, but it does need a little tweaking.  Aiming to have it ready by 10/31.

With the weather changing, the store has been a little slower. I hear from other store owners in Kenneth Village, that it picks up in a few weeks for the holidays. That will be good.  We have some exciting things planned. Should be fun!
